Domaine Fouassier
The Fouassier family is one of the oldest families of Sancerre winegrowers who have been established for several generations on the hill of Sancerre. In 1966, Pierre Fouassier began working on his father's 10 hectare farm after his studies at the Lycée viticole de Beaune. He then gives a revival to the image of the wine growers of the time by developing the commercial activity of the exploitation. He is then joined by his brother, Jean-Michel, who has just finished his studies at the Lycée Viticole and decides to devote himself to the vineyard and the cellar. Today, it is the 10th generation of this legendary family that has taken over. Benoit the son of Jean-Michel and in 2001 and Paul the son of Pierre who brings a new dynamic to the farm and works daily to preserve family values. Today, the vineyard covers almost 59 hectares planted with 80% of the noble and very old Sauvignon grape variety, and the rest of the most delicate and elegant of the red grape varieties, Pinot Noir. Mainly cultivated in Biodynamic Agriculture, the domain refuses modern techniques in order to preserve the vines and the quality of their wines.
