The Great Millésime

Champagne

The Champagne terroir has a northern latitude and is spread over the departments of Marne (51), Aisne (02), Seine-et-Marne (77), Haute-Marne (52) and Aube (10). It is composed of 4 major regions: La Montagne de Reims, La Côte des Blancs and Côte de Sézanne, La vallée de la Marne, and La Côte des Bar. From a basement mostly limestone its relief is sufficiently steep and hilly to allow a good insolation of the vine and its slope facilitates the flow of excess water. The main grape varieties are pinot noir, pinot meunier and chardonnay.
