Founded in 1816 on the island of Islay in the west of Scotland, the Lagavulin distillery, belonging to the Diageo group, finds its roots on the site of former illicit distilleries dating back from 1742. Over the years, it has undergone several expansions and currently houses two wash stills (fermentation stills) and two spirit stills (distillation stills).
With an annual production of approximately 1.7 million liters of alcohol, Lagavulin is recognized for its powerful whiskey, characterized by intense aromas of peat and of smoke, carefully aged in sherry barrels.
