The opinion of VIGNAPART : "This whisky opens with a beautifully rounded attack and a rich, indulgent texture. It reveals the signature cereal character typical of the Distillerie d’Hautefeuille. The finish is delicate and elegant, lingering with a subtle saline touch brought by the influence of the Condrieu cask."
The Distillerie d’Hautefeuille is located at the heart of a family estate passed down from generation to generation since 1660. That same year, Louis de l’Aubespine undertook major renovations to modernize the château and give it the elegance of Louis XIII style architecture. The estate remained intact through the centuries until August 8, 1918, when the German front was broken through. Located only a few kilometers from the fighting, the château suffered the devastating consequences of the First World War, marked by heavy human losses and significant material damage.
Ten generations later, in 2017, Étienne and Marie-Astrid d’Hautefeuille took on the ambitious challenge of reviving the family grain farm and taking it a step further by crafting single malt whiskies using barley grown on their Picardy lands.
