Arriving in the Dominican Republic in 1868, Don Andrés Brugal was the first to introduce barrel aging for rum on the island. For more than five generations, the Brugal family has preserved this unique expertise in warehouses located in the north of the country, where the tropical climate encourages exceptional maturation.
Crafted from molasses made from Dominican sugar cane, Brugal 1888 undergoes a double aging process.It is first matured for 6 to 8 years in former bourbon barrels, before continuing its refinement for an additional 6 years in oloroso sherry casks imported from Europe. This rum stands out for its warm and harmonious profile, combining woody notes, cocoa, and red fruits, enhanced by hints of sweet spices such as cinnamon and vanilla, along with nuances of nuts and raisins. It is best enjoyed neat or served with an ice cube made from coconut water.
