The Château de Poncié, located in the Beaujolais wine region, is one of the most prestigious estates in the region. Currently owned by the Jean-Michel Despres family, it is renowned for its wines of excellence.
The Château de Poncié estate extends over the slopes of Mont Brouilly, a renowned Beaujolais appellation. The vines benefit from an ideal exposure to the sun and a soil rich in granite, characteristic of this wine-growing region.
Château de Poncié is mainly known for two emblematic wines. The first is the "949", which takes its name from the 949 meters of altitude of Mont Brouilly. This wine is a Beaujolais cru, made from the Gamay grape variety. It stands out for its elegance, its aromas of red fruits and its beautiful structure.
The estate's second famous wine is "Les Hauts du Py", made from vines located on the plot of the same name. This cuvée is also a Beaujolais cru, known for its expressive character and its aging potential. It presents aromas of black fruits, a velvety texture and great complexity. In addition to these two emblematic wines in the Fleurie appellation, the Château de Poncié also offers other cuvées that highlight the diversity and typicality of the Beaujolais terroir.
