The Domaine Tortochot is located in Gevrey-Chambertin, Village appellation of Côte de Nuits, Côte-d'Or (AOC). The family Tortochot is based in Gevrey for at least four generations dating back to the 19th century. Today, Brigitte and Chantal, daughters of Gabriel Tortochot (recognized for his presidency of the "Wine Syndicate of Gevrey-Chambertin" and his role in the "National Committee of INAO"), who run the vineyard of 11 hectares planted exclusively with pinot noir aged of 40 years on average.
The orientation towards organic viticulture started in 2003 on the plot "Les Corvées". Only natural raw materials are used (copper, sulfur...) in order to strengthen the natural resistance of plants and rebuild a healthy ecosystem for the vines.
Great care is taken from the vineyard to the cellar: manual labor, hand picking, control of fermentation temperatures (without adding chemicals) and analysis of must. The wines are aged between 15 and 18 months in medium toast oak barrels so the wood does not dominate the wine.
The wines of Domaine Tortochot, certified organic, are of great finesse and complexity, even in the difficult years. Multiple awards press reports testify the quality of wines.
