Founded in 1900 in Lannion, on the pink granite coast, the Armorik distillery was taken over in the 1980s by Gilles Leizour, a pharmacist, who directed it towards regional products such as the chouchen Melmor. In 1993, a distillery dedicated to whisky was built, resulting in the launch of the first French and Breton single malt, Armorik, in 1998. Under the direction of Gilles Leizour and then of his son-in-law David Roussier, the distillery is a pillar of the "Breton Whiskey" Geographical Indication, guaranteeing that all "Breton Whiskey" is entirely made in Brittany.
