Awards : Zacapa is a small town northeast of Guatemala city. In 1976, the city celebrates its centenary and the largest rum producing company in the country, the Industria Licorera Quetzalteca, wants to create the event for the occasion. Ron Zacapa Centenario, a unique premium spirits, was born. Unlike other rum, Zacapa uses the first press concentrated juices of sugar cane, known as "virgin sugar cane honey" rather than molasses, residue from the refining of sugar extracted from cane. This difference influences the taste of the final result.
