The opinion of Vignapart : "From old Syrah vines planted in the Condrieu appellation area, the Sainte Agathe cuvée is a remarkably well-crafted wine. Well-balanced, it is ample with a nice freshness and notes of red fruits. on a peppery and spicy frame."

Iconic domain of the Rhône Valley known for the quality of its Côte-Rôtie and its Condrieu, the Vernay domain was born in 1940 thanks to the planting of its first vines by Francis Vernay in Condrieu and the launch of its first cuvée: Coteau du Vernon in the Condrieu appellation.
In 1953, the estate was taken over by Georges Vernay, nicknamed "the pope of Condrieu" for having saved the appellation and contributed to making its terroir one of the most recognized in the world. He became the leader of a whole generation of winegrowers and in 1992 launched the estate's second cuvée, the Condrieu Chaillées de l'Enfer.
His daughter Christine took over the reins of the estate in 1996. We owe her the cuvée Terrasses de l’Empire en blanc. It also provides the estate with new 100% Syrah cuvées in the Côte-Rôtie and Saint-Joseph appellations which today make the estate famous internationally, as much as the Condrieus. Its cuvées are acclaimed by the press for their undeniable quality. Christine's daughter, Emma, joined the estate in 2020 and learns alongside her mother to know her land and work the vines which she will one day make her own wine.
The estate now represents 24 hectares of vines planted and worked in organic farming, including 17 on hillsides, spread over 3 appellations: Condrieu (10ha), Côte-Rôtie (6ha) and Saint-Joseph (2ha), and 2 IGP Syrah and Viognier (6ha).
