The story begins in 1935, when Baptiste Clusel planted the first Syrah vines on the Clusel estate. His son René gradually took over in the 1950s, favoring the cultivation of vegetables, wine production in Côte-Rôtie then being in decline, but René brought viticulture back to life in the 1960s. In 1969, he bottled his first vintage. Gilbert Clusel, his son, was passionate about vines and planted new plots in 1980. In 1990, the estate reached 3 hectares, beginning its conversion to biodynamic in 1984. The estate took its name from the association between Gilbert Clusel and Brigitte Roch, his wife.
The new generation, represented by Guillaume Clusel, joined the family estate in 2009. Since then, he has taken full responsibility for the estate, supported by a passionate team. From 2009, Guillaume introduced the Coteaux du Lyonnais appellation, renting vines in Millery and Grigny, all cultivated inorganic agriculture. In 2014, he created a wine merchant structure to diversify the appellations and cope with difficult years. Its collaboration with trusted winegrowers, also certified organic, reinforces this approach. In 2021, Gilbert and Brigitte retired, occasionally participating in the life of the estate.
