The Bernard Bégaud estate, founded after the First World War by Gabriel Bégaud and his wife Laure, is located in Villars-les-Bois on the family's old property dating back to 1780. The Bégaud family specialized in vine cultivation, but also invested in a still in 1920 to distill their wine and produce cognac. This expertise has been passed down through generations, from Gabriel to his son Pierre, then to his grandson Bernard, and finally to his daughter Mathilde.
Traditional distillation, carried out with a small wood-fired still, allows for a unique concentration of wine aromas. The maturation process of the cognacs is meticulously managed by the cellar master, with particular attention paid to barrel qualities.
The estate also emphasizes environmental preservation, promoting biodiversity through hedges, edges, and grassy areas in their vineyard. They are committed to respecting the land by using vegetative cover on the soil and avoiding chemical fertilizers and herbicides, which contributes to the quality of life and the preservation of the local ecosystem.
Thus, the Bernard Bégaud estate combines tradition, expertise, and environmental respect to produce exceptionally high-quality cognacs while preserving the natural richness of their terroir.
