The opinion of Vignapart : "The Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru from Domaine Chantal Lescure is a magnificent Burgundy that combines intensity, depth and remarkable balance. Its complex bouquet reveals aromas of wild blueberry, blackberry and Morello cherry, enhanced by notes of black pepper, licorice, dried rose and sandalwood. On the palate, it is rich, generous and concentrated, with elegant hints of spice, herbal nuances and truffle. Perfectly integrated oak enhances the richness of the fruit and the finesse of its structure. A legendary Grand Cru, built for long-term cellaring and best enjoyed over the next ten years or more.."
Founded in 1975 by Chantal Lescure and Xavier Machard de Gramont, the Domaine Chantal Lescure is a family estate that currently operates a 19-hectare vineyard. The estate cultivates vines on various soils located on the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune up to Meursault. This vineyard is entirely cultivated in certified organic agriculture since 2006. It seeks optimal maturity thanks to naturally controlled yields. The vinifications are sweet and attentive to the particularities of each terroir. The estate practices a long breeding on lees, in pieces Burgundian and in barrels of 500 liters, with a moderate use of new wood.
The estate has been under the ownership of Jean-Philippe Girard since 2023, when he acquired it and partnered with Eric Rousseau. Since that vintage, the wines have become more refined and elegant, with a greater emphasis on fruit purity and finesse.
