Description

The Wilfrid estate dates back to 1987 and today has a vineyard of 19.5 hectares, 18 of which are Cabernet Franc. Located on the right bank of the Vienne river, this terroir has been used in organic farming since then. The choice of plots and the exposure of the vines allow this family-run estate on a human scale to offer wines of high quality that respect the soil and preserve the ecosystem.

The Wilfrid Rousse estate has a rich terroir of several parcels located on soils whose composition varies. This variety of soil allows to give the vintages different aromas depending on where the vine is planted. The family estate owns plots in Chinon with siliceous clay soils that produce fine and elegant wines. The vines planted in Beaumont-en-Véron benefit from a clayey-limestone soil, which is at the origin of the production of more structured wines for ageing. Finally, the rest of the terroir in the commune of Savigny-en-Véron has a subsoil composed of sand and gravel that retains water and heat, allowing the production of fruity and aromatic wines.
