The Nikka Whisky group owns 2 distilleries, the first one is created in 1934 in Yoichi, and the second in 1969 near Sendai. The creator is called Masataka Taketsuru, he is considered the father of Japanese Whisky. He trained as a chemist before being hired by the Settsu Shuzo company, which sent him to Scotland in 1918 to learn. There, he discovered the art of whisky making and decided to devote his life to it, and to import this knowledge to Japan. Today, Nikka's whiskies are renowned throughout the world.
