The Clos de l'Abbaye has a long wine-growing history dating back to the 11th century. It is within the walls of this abbey that the Bourgueil vineyard was born, where the Cabernet Franc, known as "Breton", has always been cultivated. The sisters made their wine there until 1794. Since 1998, the estate has been operated by Michel Lorieux and Jean-Baptiste Thouet, who immediately began a conversion to Organic Agriculture. The 6.85 hectare vineyard located in the heart of the Bourgueil appellation extends over a gravel soil 7 to 8 metres thick, allowing good filtration conducive to the development of the vine. A unique cuvée is produced throughout the Clos region, giving each year a unique character to the vintage.
