Description

The history of Bollinger begins in 1829 with Athanase de Villermont, when he inherits a vast wineyard near the Aÿ. He joined Joseph Bollinger and Paul Renaudin to create the Bollinger-Reunaudin & Cie on February 6, 1829.

Bollinger has 170 hectares of vines consisting of 85% Grands and Premiers Crus mainly distributed in Aÿ, Avenay, Tauxières, Louvois and Verzenay for Pinot Noir, Cuis for Chardonnay and Champvoisy for Meunier. Special features of this Maison de Champagne: most of the grapes used for the assembly are from its own vineyards and it has two plots of pre-phylloxera vines. They also make their own barrels!

Bollinger has a sustainable viticulture approach: grassing land, very strong reduction of herbicides, biological control against insects, and recovery of pruning. Some plots as La Côte aux Enfants are conducted in organic farming. It is the first Maison de Champagne that got the State certification "high environmental value."

Bollinger offers a wide range of excellent champagnes from the iconic Special Cuvée Bollinger to the Cuvée Bollinger R. D. initiated by Madame Bollinger.
