The opinion of VIGNAPART: " The vintage of the Castle Micalet is more supple and more accessible from today than the 2011. The nose is rich, afforested and peppered. In mouth, the attack is supple and delicately vinous, then evolves towards aromas of black fruits confiturés, with a point of vanilla."

Vinification : Manual harvest, long maceration, indigenous yeasts. Aging in French oak barrels for 18 months (30% new). No incoming oenological except some sulfites.

Description

Château Micalet has 7 hectares of vineyards led by Fédieu family located in the Haut-Médoc. The soils are maintained by cultural practices and without using chemical weed killers. In order to preserve the “terroir” the vineyard was converted to organic agriculture (AB) and was certified in 2008.

It has the classic Bordeaux grapes varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), Merlot (25%) and Cabernet Franc (5%). The harvest is manual and wine-making process takes place in the cellars located in the town of Cussac-Fort-Médoc since 1986. At the cellar the respect for the “terroir” and the grape remain the priority in the goal of producing authentic wines. The wine is made by using the traditional Bordeaux method including aging 18 months in barrels. Theses natural wines are elegant and balanced. A very good price / quality ratio.
